Uddhava Gita 10.18

10.18 Krishna to Uddhava

śvetadvīpapatau cittaṃ śuddhe dharmamaye mayi | dhārayañchvetatāṃ yāti ṣaḍūrmirahito naraḥ ||

A person who holds the mind on me, the pure one made of dharma, lord of Śvetadvīpa, attains whiteness (purity) and becomes free of the six waves (hunger, thirst, grief, delusion, old age and death).

This verse states what the Bhāgavata claims about yogic powers (siddhis); it is not a feat to attempt or test, and it proves nothing about anyone. Be wary of anyone who sells, demonstrates or promises such powers, or asks for money or obedience in return. Krishna himself calls these powers obstacles that waste the seeker's time (UG.10.33). Not advice to go without food or water.

Meaning today and context

This is part of the text's catalogue of yogic powers, not something anyone can do or demonstrate. What it shows is how the Bhāgavata ranks such powers: below devotion, and as a distraction from it.

Krishna gives the concentration for the first secondary power, freedom from the six 'waves'.
