Uddhava Gita 10.29

10.29 Krishna to Uddhava

agnyādibhirna hanyeta muneryogamayaṃ vapuḥ | madyogaśāntacittasya yādasāmudakaṃ yathā ||

The yoga-made body of the sage whose mind is calmed by yoga in me is not harmed by fire and the rest, just as water does not harm creatures that live in water.

This verse states what the Bhāgavata claims about yogic powers (siddhis); it is not a feat to attempt or test, and it proves nothing about anyone. Be wary of anyone who sells, demonstrates or promises such powers, or asks for money or obedience in return. Krishna himself calls these powers obstacles that waste the seeker's time (UG.10.33). Never test this against fire, water, poison or any danger.

Meaning today and context

This is part of the text's catalogue of yogic powers, not something anyone can do or demonstrate. What it shows is how the Bhāgavata ranks such powers: below devotion, and as a distraction from it.

Krishna gives the lesser power of being unharmed by fire and the like.
