Uddhava Gita 10.6

10.6 Krishna to Uddhava

anūrmimattvaṃ dehe'smindūraśravaṇadarśanam | manojavaḥ kāmarūpaṃ parakāyapraveśanam ||

Freedom in this body from the 'waves' (hunger, thirst and the like), hearing and seeing at a distance, moving with the speed of the mind, taking any form at will, entering another's body,

This verse states what the Bhāgavata claims about yogic powers (siddhis); it is not a feat to attempt or test, and it proves nothing about anyone. Be wary of anyone who sells, demonstrates or promises such powers, or asks for money or obedience in return. Krishna himself calls these powers obstacles that waste the seeker's time (UG.10.33). Claims of possession or of entering others' bodies must never be used to frighten or control anyone.

Meaning today and context

This is part of the text's catalogue of yogic powers, not something anyone can do or demonstrate. What it shows is how the Bhāgavata ranks such powers: below devotion, and as a distraction from it.

Krishna begins the ten secondary powers that arise from the guṇas.
