Uddhava Gita 12.34

12.34 Krishna to Uddhava

śaucamācamanaṃ snānaṃ sandhyopāstirmamārcanam | tīrthasevā japo'spṛśyā bhakṣyāsambhāṣyavarjanam ||

Cleanliness, sipping water in purification, bathing, the twilight worship, worship of me, visiting holy places, repetition of prayer, and avoiding what is not to be touched, eaten or spoken with...

'Avoiding what is not to be touched' reflects ideas of ritual purity from its time. It must never be read as treating any person as untouchable; untouchability is abolished and punishable in India (Constitution, Article 17).
