Uddhava Gita 17.30

17.30 Krishna to Uddhava

mamāṅga māyā guṇamayyanekadhā vikalpabuddhīśca guṇairvidhatte | vaikārikastrividho'dhyātmamekamathādhidaivamadhibhūtamanyat ||

Dear one, my māyā, made of the guṇas, produces through the guṇas many kinds of creation and the minds that make distinctions. The transformation is threefold: one is the personal (adhyātma), then the divine (adhidaiva), and another the physical (adhibhūta).

Meaning today and context

The same experience can be seen at three levels: our own faculty, the power behind it, and the object. Seeing these levels loosens the grip of any one of them.

Krishna explains to Uddhava (Bhagavata 11.22.30) that māyā creates the world and the dividing mind, and that each transformation is threefold.
