indriyāyanasṛṣṭyedaṃ traividhyaṃ bhāti vastuni | bahirantarbhidāheturjano'sajjanakṛdyathā ||
Through the creation of the body, the seat of the senses, this threefold division appears in the one reality, the cause of splitting outside from inside, just as a man who begets an unworthy son [comes to see division among his own].
Meaning today and context
The sense of 'me inside' versus 'the world outside' comes with having a body. It is useful, but not the deepest truth about us.
Krishna explains (Bhagavata 11.22.42) how the senses create a threefold division (high, middle, low, or inner and outer) in what is one reality. The simile in the second line is obscure; it is translated literally.
