Uddhava Gita 18.38

18.38 Krishna to Uddhava

aho eṣa mahāsāro dhṛtimāngirirāḍiva | maunena sādhayatyarthaṃ bakavaddṛḍhaniścayaḥ ||

'Oh, what a mighty one this is, steady as the king of mountains! By keeping silent he pursues his aim, firm in his resolve like a heron.'

Meaning today and context

Sarcasm turns even a person's patience into a joke; the heron is the old image of a hypocrite who stands still only to catch fish.

Krishna continues the tormentors' mocking words.
