Uddhava Gita 2.14

2.14 Uddhava to Krishna

yogeśa yogavinyāsa yogātmanyogasambhava | niḥśreyasāya me proktastyāgaḥ sannyāsalakṣaṇaḥ ||

Lord of yoga, you who laid out yoga, soul of yoga, source of yoga: for my highest good you have taught renunciation, the mark of sannyāsa.

Meaning today and context

Uddhava names what he has heard before he questions it. Restating what a teacher has said is the first step in honestly facing it.

Uddhava addresses Krishna as the master and source of yoga and recalls that Krishna has just taught him renunciation.
