ekadvitricatuspādo bahupādastathāpadaḥ | bahvyaḥ santi puraḥ sṛṣṭāstāsāṃ me pauruṣī priyā ||

Many bodies have been created: one-footed, two-, three- and four-footed, many-footed and footless. Of them all, the human one is dearest to me.

Meaning today and context

Human life is precious because it allows a person to seek and know the divine. Whatever our situation, this life itself is a rare opportunity.

Krishna says that of all the bodies created, footless, two-footed, four-footed and many-footed, the human form is dearest to him.
