Uddhava Gita 2.41

2.41 Avadhuta to Yadu

pārthiveṣviha deheṣu praviṣṭastadguṇāśrayaḥ | guṇairna yujyate yogī gandhairvāyurivātmadṛk ||

Though he has entered earthly bodies here and they bear the qualities of the elements, the yogi who sees the Self is not bound by those qualities, as the wind is not by the scents it carries.

Not being the body is about identity, not a reason to neglect the body or medical treatment.

Meaning today and context

Your body and its moods, illnesses and ageing are carried by you, but they are not you. Knowing this gives a steadiness that does not depend on how the body feels.

The wind lesson applied to the Self in the body.
