Uddhava Gita 20.30

20.30 Krishna to Uddhava

dravyaṃ deśaḥ phalaṃ kālo jñānaṃ karma ca kārakaḥ | śraddhāvasthākṛtirniṣṭhā traiguṇyaḥ sarva eva hi ||

Substance, place, result, time, knowledge, action, doer, faith, condition, form and commitment: all of these are threefold by the guṇas.

Meaning today and context

Every part of life, from what we use and where we live to how we commit, carries one of the three qualities. Any of them can be turned toward clarity.

Krishna teaches Uddhava about the three guṇas (Bhāgavata 11.25): everything in experience is threefold according to the guṇas.
