Uddhava Gita 20.36

20.36 Krishna to Uddhava

jīvo jīvavinirmukto guṇaiścāśayasambhavaiḥ | mayaiva brahmaṇā pūrṇo na bahirnāntaraścaret ||

The jīva, freed from limited selfhood and from the guṇas born of the mind's tendencies, filled by me, Brahman, no longer goes after anything outside or within.

Meaning today and context

When we feel whole, the constant chase, outward for things, inward for experiences, falls quiet. Fullness, not effort, ends the restlessness.

Krishna teaches Uddhava about the three guṇas (Bhāgavata 11.25): the freed soul, filled by Krishna as Brahman, no longer runs after outer or inner objects.
