22.13 Krishna to Uddhava

calācaleti dvividhā pratiṣṭhā jīvamandiram | udvāsāvāhane na staḥ sthirāyāmuddhavārcane ||

The installation, the dwelling of the living Lord, is of two kinds, movable and fixed. In the worship of a fixed image, Uddhava, there is no dismissal and invocation.

This is ritual instruction of its tradition; its lasting point for most people is the care and attention it brings to worship.

Krishna (Bhagavata 11.27.13) explains that an installed image, the dwelling of the Lord, is either movable or fixed; a fixed image is not invoked and dismissed at each worship.
