Uddhava Gita 22.47

22.47 Krishna to Uddhava

iti śeṣāṃ mayā dattāṃ śirasyādhāya sādaram | udvāsayeccedudvāsyaṃ jyotirjyotiṣi tatpunaḥ ||

Thus, placing respectfully on the head the remnant given by me, if (the deity) is to be dismissed, he should dismiss it, (merging) that light again into the light (within).

Meaning today and context

The divine light invoked in the image is returned to the heart: the presence one worshipped outside is carried inside.

Krishna (Bhagavata 11.27.47) closes the worship: place the remnant (prasāda) he has given respectfully on the head, and if the deity is to be dismissed, withdraw that light back into the light within.
