Uddhava Gita 23.26

23.26 Krishna to Uddhava

yathā nabho vāyvanalāmbubhūguṇair | gatāgatairvartuguṇairna sajjate | tathākṣaraṃ sattvarajastamomalair | ahaṃmateḥ saṃsṛtihetubhiḥ param ||

As the sky is not touched by the qualities of air, fire, water and earth, nor by the qualities of the seasons as they come and go, so the Imperishable, beyond them, is untouched by the stains of sattva, rajas and tamas, which are the causes of saṃsāra for the ego.

Meaning today and context

Storms, heat and rain pass through the sky without marking it. Moods and states pass through us the same way; what we are at the root is not stained by them.

Krishna to Uddhava (Bhagavata 11.28.26): the image of the sky untouched by elements and seasons.
