Uddhava Gita 24.4

24.4 Uddhava to Krishna

kiṃ citramacyuta tavaitadaśeṣabandho dāseṣvananyaśaraṇeṣu yadātmasāttvam | yo'rocayatsaha mṛgaiḥ svayamīśvarāṇāṃ śrīmatkirīṭataṭapīḍitapādapīṭhaḥ ||

What wonder is it, Achyuta, friend of all, that you give yourself into the hands of servants who have no other refuge? You, whose footstool is pressed by the glittering crowns of the lords of the gods, chose of your own will the company of forest creatures.

Meaning today and context

The greatest are often those who are most at home with the humble. God, in this picture, is not distant from the lowly but closest to those who rely on him completely.

Uddhava to Krishna (Bhagavata 11.29.4) praises Krishna's closeness to those who depend on him alone, recalling how as Rāma he befriended the forest monkeys.
