Uddhava Gita 24.42

24.42 Krishna to Uddhava

īkṣayālakanandāyā vidhūtāśeṣakalmaṣaḥ | vasāno valkalānyaṅga vanyabhuksukhaniḥspṛhaḥ ||

cleansed of every impurity by the sight of the Alakanandā, wearing bark garments, dear one, living on forest food, happy and free of craving,

Uddhava is a renunciate being sent to a hermitage; bark clothes, forest food and withdrawal are his path, not advice to leave family, work or dependants, and not dietary advice. For most people this means inner detachment.
