Uddhava Gita 3.28

3.28 Avadhuta to Yadu

tasyā nirviṇṇacittāyā gītaṃ śṛṇu yathā mama | nirveda āśāpāśānāṃ puruṣasya yathā hyasiḥ ||

Hear the song of that disenchanted woman as I heard it. Disenchantment is to a person like a sword to the cords of hope.

Meaning today and context

Clear-eyed weariness with a hope that keeps hurting us can cut it cleanly. Disenchantment is not bitterness; it is release.

Krishna tells Uddhava what the Avadhuta said to King Yadu. He introduces Pingala's song and praises disenchantment.
