Uddhava Gita 3.37

3.37 Pingala

nūnaṃ me bhagavānprīto viṣṇuḥ kenāpi karmaṇā | nirvedo'yaṃ durāśāyā yanme jātaḥ sukhāvahaḥ ||

Surely Lord Vishnu is pleased with me for some deed of mine, since this disenchantment with false hope has arisen in me, and it brings happiness.

Meaning today and context

The moment we finally stop chasing something that hurt us can feel like a gift, not a defeat. Gratitude can grow from disappointment.

Pingala, disenchanted at midnight, sings to herself; the Avadhuta reports her song to King Yadu. She sees her disenchantment as grace.
