gāṃ dugdhadohāmasatīṃ ca bhāryāṃ dehaṃ parādhīnamasatprajāṃ ca | vittaṃ tvatīrthīkṛtamaṅga vācaṃ hīnāṃ mayā rakṣati duḥkhaduḥkhī ||
Dear one, he who keeps a cow already milked dry, an unfaithful wife, a body dependent on others, wicked children, wealth never put to a worthy use, and speech empty of me, suffers sorrow upon sorrow.
The list reflects the household and social views of its time. 'Unfaithful wife' and 'wicked children' must never be used to blame, shame or control a wife or children; the verse's point is the futility of speech without God.

The point is the last item: words, and wealth, that serve nothing higher only weigh us down. Holding on to what gives no good is its own suffering.
Bhāgavata 11.11.19. Krishna lists things that only bring sorrow to the one who keeps them, ending with speech that has nothing of God in it.
