Uddhava Gita 6.7

6.7 Krishna to Uddhava

The one who does not eat the fruit, the knower, knows both himself and the other; the one who eats does not. The one joined to ignorance is ever bound; the one made of knowledge is ever free.

Meaning today and context

When we are busy grabbing at results we lose sight of ourselves. Stepping back, even for a moment, lets us see both the one who wants and the one who watches.

Bhāgavata 11.11.7. Krishna explains the two birds: the one who does not eat knows both; the eater does not. Ignorance binds, knowledge frees.
