yathā vidyā tathā karma coditatvāviśeṣataḥ | pratyavāyasmṛteścaiva kāryaṃ karma mumukṣubhiḥ ||
[Objection continued:] Action, like knowledge, is enjoined by scripture, with no difference between them; and tradition speaks of the sin of omission. So those who seek liberation must perform action.

The worry behind this objection is a familiar one: 'If I stop doing what I was told to do, will I be at fault?' Shankara will answer that fear by asking who it is that would be at fault (1.24).
The objector continues: both knowledge and action are commanded by scripture, and the law books warn of sin for neglecting duties, so seekers of liberation must keep performing actions.
