Upadeshasahasri 14.10

14.10 Shankaracharya

sabāhyābhyantare śuddhe prajñānaikarase ghane | bāhyamābhyantaraṃ cānyatkathaṃ heyaṃ prakalpyate ||

In that which is pure, a single mass of consciousness, a homogeneous whole including outside and inside, how could anything else, outer or inner, be thought of as something to be rejected?

Meaning today and context

Self-knowledge is not a fight to push things out of the mind. When you see what you are, there is nothing to reject; this eases the strain of trying to 'get rid of' thoughts.

Shankaracharya, in the fourteenth chapter of the Upadeshasahasri (on dream and memory), continues: in pure consciousness there is nothing separate to reject.
