Upadeshasahasri 14.35

14.35 Shankaracharya

asamādhiṃ na paśyāmi nirvikārasya sarvadā | brahmaṇo me viśuddhasya śodhyaṃ cānyadvipāpmanaḥ ||

I see no lack of concentration for me, who am ever changeless; nor is there anything else to purify for me, Brahman, utterly pure and free from sin.

Meaning today and context

Distraction and impurity belong to the mind, not to you. Practice still helps the mind, but you do not need to earn your worth by being perfectly focused or perfectly pure.

Shankaracharya, in the fourteenth chapter of the Upadeshasahasri (on dream and memory), continues in the first person: the changeless Self needs no concentration and no purification.
