akālatvādadeśatvādadiktvādanimittataḥ | ātmano naiva kālāderapekṣā dhyāyataḥ sadā ||
Because the Self is beyond time, beyond place, beyond direction and without cause, one who constantly meditates on it has no need [to wait] for a [suitable] time and the like.
Meaning today and context
You do not need the perfect hour, place or setting to turn toward what you are. A moment of remembering in the middle of an ordinary day is enough.
Shankaracharya, in the fourteenth chapter of the Upadeshasahasri (on dream and memory), says that contemplation of the Self depends on no particular time or place.
