Upadeshasahasri 14.4

Or, just as light, which reveals things, takes on the form of what it reveals, so the intellect, because it reveals all objects, is seen as having the form of objects.

Meaning today and context

The intellect is like a light that seems to take the shape of what it falls on. Knowing that its shapes are borrowed helps you not take every passing mental picture as the final truth.

Shankaracharya, in the fourteenth chapter of the Upadeshasahasri (on dream and memory), offers a second analogy: light takes the shape of what it shows.
