Upadeshasahasri 15.23

15.23 Shankaracharya

hūyante tu havīṃṣīti rūpādigrahaṇe smaran | arāgadveṣa ātmāgnau jāgraddoṣairna lipyate ||

But one who, while perceiving form and the rest, keeps in mind 'oblations are being offered', free of attraction and aversion, [abiding] in the Self-fire, is not stained by the faults of the waking state.

Meaning today and context

You can meet whatever you see and hear as an offering rather than something to grab or reject. Taken in without craving or dislike, experience leaves no stain.

Shankaracharya gives the practice drawn from the fire image: treat each perception as an offering into the Self, without attraction or aversion.
