[Whether it is] conscious or unconscious, agent or non-agent, moving or unmoving, bound or free, one or not one, pure or otherwise: [none of this can be said of it].

Meaning today and context

Even 'bound' and 'free' are labels of the mind. The Self is not a problem waiting to be fixed, which can ease the anxious feeling of being stuck.

Shankaracharya lists pairs of opposites, none of which can be said of the Self without adjuncts.
