Upadeshasahasri 15.32

15.32 Shankaracharya

vyāpakaṃ sarvato vyoma mūrtaiḥ sarvairviyojitam | yathā tadvadihātmānaṃ vidyācchuddhaṃ paraṃ padam ||

As space pervades everything and yet is separate from all forms, so here one should know the Self as pure, the highest state.

Meaning today and context

Space holds every object without being dirtied or crowded by them. In the same way you can hold every experience without being stained by it.

Shankaracharya gives the image of space to show how the Self pervades everything yet is untouched by any form.
