Upadeshasahasri 15.33

15.33 Shankaracharya

dṛṣṭaṃ hitvā smṛtiṃ tasminsarvagraśca tamastyajet | sarvadṛgjyotiṣā yukto dinakṛcchārvaraṃ yathā ||

Leaving aside what is seen and what is remembered, one should, in that [Self], give up the all-swallowing darkness too, [being] the all-seer endowed with light, as the sun [dispels] the darkness of night.

Meaning today and context

Sights, memories and even the blank fog of not-knowing are all lit by the same awareness. Resting as that light, you are not lost in any of them.

Shankaracharya tells the seeker to leave behind what is seen and remembered, and even the darkness of not-knowing, as the sun dispels the night.
