Discriminating one's own Self from this, one should know it as the pure, highest state: the seer abiding in all beings, the same [in all], beyond every fear.
Freedom from fear through Self-knowledge is not a reason to ignore real dangers or skip medical care. If fear or thoughts of death overwhelm you, please reach out (Tele-MANAS 14416).
Meaning today and context
Fear belongs to the mixture of body, mind and circumstance. When you know yourself as the awareness behind it, there is a place in you that fear does not reach.
Shankaracharya tells the seeker to separate his own Self from this mixture of factors and know it as the fearless seer in all.
