The Self is one in all beings, and they are in it, as [things are] in space. 'He has pervaded [all]', like space, everything: [the Self] is held to be bright and radiant.
Meaning today and context
The same Self is in you and in everyone else, as one space holds all things. Seen this way, others are not strangers or rivals, and kindness becomes natural.
Shankaracharya describes the Self as one in all beings, drawing on the Isha Upanishad (6 and 8, 'paryagāt': 'he has gone around everything').
