पूर्वदेहपरित्यागे जात्यादीनां प्रहाणतः । देहस्यैव तु जात्यादिस्तस्याप्येवं ह्यनात्मता ॥
pūrvadehaparityāge jātyādīnāṃ prahāṇataḥ | dehasyaiva tu jātyādistasyāpyevaṃ hyanātmatā ||
Since caste and the like are given up when a former body is abandoned, caste and the like belong to the body alone; and so the body, too, is in the same way not the Self.
क्योंकि पिछला शरीर छूटने पर जाति आदि भी छूट जाते हैं, इसलिए जाति आदि केवल शरीर के हैं; और इसी तरह शरीर भी आत्मा नहीं है।
That the body is 'not the Self' is about identity, not self-contempt; it is never a reason to neglect or harm the body (Tele-MANAS 14416). Caste belongs to no one's worth and must never be used to rank people by birth.
