Upadeshasahasri 17.67

17.67 Shankaracharya

śāstrasyānatiśaṅkyatvādbrahmaiva syāmahaṃ sadā | brahmaṇo me na heyaṃ syādgrāhyaṃ veti ca saṃsmaret ||

Because the scripture is not to be doubted, [one should think]: 'I am always Brahman alone; for me, who am Brahman, there is nothing to reject or to take hold of', and so keep remembering.

Much of our restlessness is pushing some things away and grabbing others. Remembering that your deepest self needs neither is a way to let the mind settle.

Shankaracharya, in the seventeenth chapter of the Upadeshasahasri (on right thinking), tells the student what to keep in mind, relying on scripture as the means of knowledge.
