Upadeshasahasri 17.83

17.83 Shankaracharya

ātmapratyāyikā hyeṣā sarvavedāntagocarā | jñātvaitāṃ hi vimucyante sarvasaṃsārabandhanaiḥ ||

For this [right thinking] makes the Self evident and is the subject of all the Upanishads; knowing it, people are freed from all the bonds of worldly existence.

Meaning today and context

All the Upanishads point to one recognition. Getting that one thing clear matters more than collecting many teachings.

Shankaracharya, in the seventeenth chapter of the Upadeshasahasri (on right thinking), says what this right thinking does.
