brahmā dāśaratheryadvaduktyaivāpānudattamaḥ | tasya viṣṇutvasaṃbodhe na yatnāntaramūcivān ||
Just as Brahma, by speaking alone, dispelled the darkness of Dasharatha's son, and did not speak of any further effort for his awakening to his being Vishnu, [so too here].
Meaning today and context
Sometimes what we need is not a new effort but to be told, clearly and by someone we trust, what we already are. Recognition can happen in a moment.
Shankaracharya gives an example from the Ramayana: Brahma told Rama, son of Dasharatha, that he was Vishnu, and words alone removed Rama's ignorance, with no further effort prescribed.
