Upadeshasahasri 18.104

18.104 Shankaracharya

pratibandhavihīnatvātsvayaṃ cānubhavātmanaḥ | jāyetaiva pramā tatra svātmanyeva na saṃśayaḥ ||

Because there is no obstruction, and because [the Self] is by nature experience itself, valid knowledge is bound to arise there, about one's own Self; there is no doubt.

Meaning today and context

Knowing yourself is not like learning a distant fact; nothing stands between you and your own awareness. What blocks it is only a mistaken idea, and ideas can be corrected.

Shankaracharya explains why the knowledge must arise: nothing obstructs it and the Self is experience itself, so the understanding concerns one's own Self beyond doubt.
