Upadeshasahasri 18.140

18.140 Shankaracharya

adraṣṭurnaiva cāndhasya spaṣṭībhāvo ghaṭasya tu | kartrādeḥ spaṣṭateṣṭā ceddraṣṭṛtādhyakṣakartṛkā ||

For one who does not see, for the blind, a pot never becomes clear. If the clearness of agent and the rest is accepted, then [their] being seen has the witness as its agent.

Nothing shows up as clear or unclear unless there is someone aware of it. Behind every experience is a witness that is easy to overlook because it is never itself an object.

Shankaracharya argues that clarity needs a seer: a pot is never 'clear' to a blind man. So if the agent, object and so on become clear, their being seen is the work of the witness.
