Upadeshasahasri 19.6

19.6 Shankaracharya

na me'sti mohastava ceṣṭitena hi prabuddhatattvastvasito hyavikriyaḥ | na pūrvatattvottarabhedatā hi no vṛthaiva tasmācca manastavehitam ||

Your activity brings me no delusion, for I am awake to the truth, unbound and changeless. For us there is no division into an earlier and a later state. Therefore, mind, your striving is in vain.

Meaning today and context

The mind's commotion does not change who you are. You are not a 'before' self waiting to become an improved 'after' self; awareness is the same through every state.

The Self tells the mind that its activity cannot delude the Self, which is awake to the truth, unbound and changeless, with no 'before' and 'after' state.
