Vivekachudamani 1.202

1.202 Guru to Disciple

vinivṛttirbhavettasya samyagjñānena nānyathā | brahmātmaikatvavijñānaṃ samyagjñānaṃ śrutermatam ||

Its cessation comes through right knowledge, not otherwise. Right knowledge, in the view of scripture, is the realisation that Brahman and the Self are one.

Some problems are solved by effort, others only by seeing clearly. A misunderstanding is removed by understanding, not by more striving.

The guru states the remedy: only right knowledge, which scripture defines as the oneness of Brahman and Self, ends this false connection.
