Vivekachudamani 1.206

1.206 Guru to Disciple

ato nāyaṃ parātmā syādvijñānamayaśabdabhāk | vikāritvājjaḍatvācca paricchinnatvahetutaḥ | dṛśyatvādvyabhicāritvānnānityo nitya iṣyate ||

Therefore this, which is called the sheath of intellect, cannot be the supreme Self, because it changes, is inert, is limited, is an object of perception and is inconstant. What is not eternal cannot be accepted as eternal.

Meaning today and context

Even your intelligence and opinions change, can be observed and have limits. That makes them valuable tools, but not the deepest 'you'.

Concluding the discussion of the intellectual sheath (vijnanamaya kosha), the guru gives reasons why it cannot be the supreme Self.
