Vivekachudamani 1.219

1.219 Guru to Disciple

ghaṭaṃ jalaṃ tadgatamarkabimbaṃ | vihāya sarvaṃ vinirīkṣyate'rkaḥ | taṭastha etattritayāvabhāsakaḥ | svayaṃprakāśo viduṣā yathā tathā ||

Setting aside the pot, the water and the sun's image in it, one sees the sun itself, which stands apart, lights up all three and is self-luminous. As the wise see it, so [the Self is to be seen, as the next verses say].

Meaning today and context

To find what is real in yourself, look past the container (the body), the medium (the mind) and the image (the self-picture) to the light that shows them all.

The guru continues the analogy: the real sun is seen by setting aside pot, water and reflection.
