Vivekachudamani 1.227

1.227 Guru to Disciple

yadidaṃ sakalaṃ viśvaṃ nānārūpaṃ pratītamajñānāt | tatsarvaṃ brahmaiva pratyastāśeṣabhāvanādoṣam ||

This entire universe, which appears in many forms through ignorance, is all Brahman alone, once every flaw of imagining has been cast off.

Calling the world 'unreal' or 'false' is a claim about its ultimate nature, not permission to ignore people, duties, suffering or practical needs. Relationships, work and health still deserve full care.

Meaning today and context

Seen with a clear mind, the same world that seemed divided and hostile can be seen as one whole. Nothing is rejected; it is seen differently.

The guru says that the whole varied world, seen through ignorance, is in truth Brahman.
