brahmaivedaṃ viśvamityeva vāṇī | śrautī brūte'tharvaniṣṭhā variṣṭhā | tasmādetadbrahmamātraṃ hi viśvaṃ | nādhiṣṭhānādbhinnatāropitasya ||
'This universe is Brahman alone': so says the excellent word of scripture rooted in the Atharvaveda. Therefore this universe is only Brahman; what is superimposed is not different from its substratum.

Just as a mirage has no water but the desert is really there, the world's appearances rest on something real. The teaching asks us to see the ground, not to despise the appearance.
The guru cites the Mundaka Upanishad of the Atharvaveda, 'all this universe is Brahman alone', as the authority.
