Vivekachudamani 1.245

1.245 Guru to Disciple

athāta ādeśa iti śrutiḥ svayaṃ | niṣedhati brahmaṇi kalpitaṃ dvayam | śrutipramāṇānugṛhītabodhāt | tayornirāsaḥ karaṇīya eva ||

The scripture itself, with 'now therefore the teaching', denies the duality imagined in Brahman. Through understanding supported by the authority of scripture, the two adjuncts must certainly be set aside.

Some truths are found not by adding more ideas but by removing what is false. Clearing away mistaken labels is itself a path to clarity.

The guru cites the Upanishadic instruction 'now therefore the teaching' (followed by 'not this, not this') as the scripture's own denial of duality in Brahman.
