Vivekachudamani 1.319

1.319 Guru to Disciple

tamastamaḥkāryamanarthajālaṃ | na dṛśyate satyudite dineśe | tathādvayānandarasānubhūtau | na vāsti bandho na ca duḥkhagandhaḥ ||

When the sun has risen, darkness and the tangle of troubles born of darkness are not seen. In the same way, in the experience of the taste of non-dual bliss, there is no bondage, not even a whiff of sorrow.

Meaning today and context

Many fears are like shapes in the dark that vanish when the light comes on. Clear seeing removes troubles that were never as solid as they seemed.

The guru, in the Vivekachudamani attributed to Shankaracharya, says that as darkness and its troubles vanish at sunrise, in the experience of non-dual bliss there is no bondage and no trace of sorrow.
