Vivekachudamani 1.354

1.354 Guru to Disciple

tvamahamidamitīyaṃ kalpanā buddhidoṣāt | prabhavati paramātmanyadvaye nirviśeṣe | pravilasati samādhāvasya sarvo vikalpo | vilayanamupagacchedvastutattvāvadhṛtyā ||

Notions such as 'you', 'I' and 'this' arise in the supreme Self, non-dual and without distinctions, through a defect of the intellect. In samadhi, when the truth of reality is firmly grasped, all such constructs shine forth no more and come to dissolution.

Meaning today and context

Many conflicts rest on sharp lines between 'me', 'you' and 'this'. In deep stillness those lines soften, and with them much of the friction they cause.

The guru continues teaching the disciple in the Vivekachudamani (attributed to Shankaracharya): he says notions like 'you', 'I' and 'this' arise from a defect of the intellect in the one Self, and dissolve in samadhi when reality is firmly grasped.
