Vivekachudamani 1.362

1.362 Guru to Disciple

nirantarābhyāsavaśāttaditthaṃ | pakvaṃ mano brahmaṇi līyate yadā | tadā samādhiḥ savikalpavarjitaḥ | svato'dvayānandarasānubhāvakaḥ ||

When the mind, thus ripened by the force of unbroken practice, merges in Brahman, then comes samadhi free of all constructs, which of itself brings the experience of the bliss of non-duality.

Deep meditation is best learned under a qualified teacher; if it brings up distressing experiences, or you live with trauma or severe depression, seek guidance and support (Tele-MANAS 14416). It is not a substitute for treatment.

Meaning today and context

Deep peace is not forced; it comes when the mind has been ripened by long, patient practice, like fruit that falls when it is ready.

The guru continues teaching the disciple in the Vivekachudamani (attributed to Shankaracharya): he says when the mind, ripened by unbroken practice, merges in Brahman, there arises samadhi free of constructs that by itself gives the taste of non-dual bliss.
