Vivekachudamani 1.394

1.394 Guru to Disciple

vaktavyaṃ kimu vidyate'tra bahudhā brahmaiva jīvaḥ svayaṃ | brahmaitajjagadātataṃ nu sakalaṃ brahmādvitīyaṃ śrutiḥ | brahmaivāhamiti prabuddhamatayaḥ saṃtyaktabāhyāḥ sphuṭaṃ | brahmībhūya vasanti santatacidānandātmanaitaddhruvam ||

What more is there to say at length? The individual self is Brahman itself; this whole outspread world is Brahman; scripture says Brahman has no second. Those whose minds have awakened to 'I am Brahman alone', having clearly let go of outer things, become Brahman and live as unbroken consciousness and bliss. This is certain.

Meaning today and context

The whole teaching in one breath: you are not a fragment. Letting go of outer things here means no longer resting your worth on them, not walking away from your life.

The guru, continuing his teaching to the disciple, sums up: the individual is Brahman, the world is Brahman, and those who awaken to 'I am Brahman' live as consciousness and bliss.
