Vivekachudamani 1.404

1.404 Guru to Disciple

na hyasti viśvaṃ paratattvabodhāt | sadātmani brahmaṇi nirvikalpe | kālatraye nāpyahirīkṣito guṇe | na hyambubindurmṛgatṛṣṇikāyām ||

Once the supreme reality is known, there is no universe in Brahman, the Self that is Being, free of distinctions. In none of the three times was the snake seen in the rope, nor a drop of water in the mirage.

Meaning today and context

A mirage never held water, even while you were thirsting for it. Many fears were never real either; seeing that clearly brings relief, not loss.

The guru, continuing his teaching to the disciple, says that once the supreme reality is known, the world is not there, just as the snake never was in the rope or water in a mirage.
